Larian Studios is on a mission to rectify an unusual issue in “Baldur’s Gate 3,” where some characters are more amorous than they should be. However, players are not happy with Larian’s plan to fix it.
“Baldur’s Gate 3” made its debut on August 3, 2023, receiving widespread acclaim from both critics and gamers during its initial days. Despite the heaps of praise and impressive ratings – boasting a Metacritic critic score of 96 and a user score of 8.9 – it has emerged as one of the most problematic games of the year. In fact, it’s widely considered to be much buggier and more unfinished than “Cyberpunk 2077” ever was (let’s just ignore here previous-generation consoles, PS4 and Xbox One).
Over the past month, the game has received thousands of fixes and updates, but the situation has not notably improved. On the contrary, many players believe that it’s worse than before. Angry gamers have taken to social media to express their frustration, declaring they will put the game on hold until it undergoes significant improvements, opting instead to delve into the recently released Bethesda space odyssey, “Starfield.”
My experiences with “Baldur’s Gate 3” have left me feeling like I’m playing an early access or alpha version that has a long road ahead before it reaches a beta state, let alone full release. My recommendation is to hold off on purchasing this game for at least 6 to 12 months.
Now, another issue has ignited player anger, but this time, it’s not the issue itself causing the outrage, but rather the developer’s intent to fix it.
If you’ve played “Baldur’s Gate 3,” you’ve likely noticed that some characters are more inclined than others to engage in intimate relations with your character. Swen Vincke, from Larian Studios, mentioned in an interview with TheGamer that this is indeed a game issue. Some characters have already been patched, while others are waiting for the update. However, this news did not sit well with players, who are now taking to social media to implore Larian to leave this particular issue as is and concentrate on addressing more critical issues that affect the overall gameplay experience. Will Larian heed these player concerns? Probably not.
Thanks to this “minor issue,” a new speedrun category has emerged, attempting to reach a sex scene in “Baldur’s Gate 3” in record time. Currently, a Canadian player, maeeeeee, holds the record, clocking in at an impressive 2 minutes and 4 seconds.
